Foundations: Puppy Development
Puppy Development is the foundation of future obedience. It has little to do with control and everything to do with connection.

Essentials: Adult Obedience
At 6 months your dog is capable of greater responsibility and sustained attention. Now is the time to establish dynamic, practical obedience for everyday life.

We develop dogs into versatile companions — family members that can be fully integrated
into your life and participate in your activities with grace, ease, and fun.
Working Dogs
We train Service dogs and Personal Protection dogs for specialized work in their families.
These are dogs you can live with – dogs with good judgment and high performance standards.
ABOUT US | We are dog trainers.
We founded our professional dog training company in 1991.
We train for success — in life, in relationship, in the big world filled with distractions.
Training is about shaping attitudes and emotions for improvement and lasting results.
WHO WE WORK WITH | Dogs and the people who love them
Training, shaping, and enjoying the dogs in our care is one very intensive half of an equation balanced by people.
As trainers, dogs are part of everything we do. Dogs are our alarm clocks and our bedtime stories. Dogs are our midday exercise and our evening constitutional. Dogs are under the table when we go out for lunch and by our side when we cuddle up for a movie on the couch. Dogs and dog training have shaped who we are as people, how we learn, how we parent.
The people we train with are pet owners. They’re combat veterans with disabilities. They’re executives with families to protect. Our people are hunters and therapists. Our people are shelter rescuers and connoisseurs of careful breeding. Our clients have all kinds of needs and hopes and dreams for their lives with their dogs. They come to us for guidance and reliable results.
“He is so much more responsive to us, it’s a delight! Thanks for all the support and encouragement!”
— a Board & Train client
How can we earn your dog’s enthusiasm? His devotion? His trust?
We establish the right training path for your dog based on the answers to these questions.
In dog training, people and dogs each have work to do. We ask our dogs to become open to our requests — their job is to listen actively and respond eagerly.
Our job is to become clear and comfortable in that role of asking and requiring a positive response —
to know what to ask, when to ask it, and how to keep our dogs motivated for success.
Training is a path. We know the way to the finish line.
1.
We start with an in-depth evaluation.
Every training program begins with an exploration of how your dog learns and how he or she feels about learning. This essential insight into how your dog thinks and feels orients us and points the way forward for training your particular dog.
2.
Next, we develop a training plan.
We ask: What are your goals for training? What will it take to get there? What program is right for you and your dog?
3.
Now, we produce positive results.
With clear direction, detailed steps, and dynamic guidance, you and your dog will move through training with support and clarity. You may meet with us for private lessons, or learn handling skills for when your dog returns from a Board&Train in our home. Your program will be designed just for you, and your dog’s training will address his particular needs and goals.
Is your dog younger than 6 months? Puppy development is fundamentally different from adult obedience.
